Authorities claim to have identified details of more than 2,700 alleged supporters and announced that linked financial accounts will be closed and confiscated. The NUG did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.

This story follows this morning's article, "Did the military really seize the PRF website, or is it fake?" — and today's new information strengthens the suspicion raised there.

1. The link in the junta's announcement does not match the real one

Junta-aligned outlets (Myanmar Hard Talk) reporting the arrests cite form.prfhq.modnug.org as the PRF website address connected to the case.

But this domain matches neither the real PRF website (www.prf.modnugmm.org) nor the real NUG Ministry of Defence website (www.modnugmm.org). NUG spokesperson U Nay Phone Latt showed on his Facebook page that "modnug.org" is a lookalike domain with one "mm" dropped from "modnugmm.org".

In other words — the junta's own announcement, which claims donor data came "from the PRF website", cites a lookalike link unrelated to the real PRF.

2. NUGPay representative: "It's psychological warfare"

A NUGPay representative told Burma VJ (September 28) that the announcement is psychological warfare designed to frighten the public and stop people from using NUGPay and SDB Bank. "Tracing 1,000 NUGPay accounts is impossible and illogical," the representative said.

This is the NUGPay side's claim; independent verification is not available.
